Mike Toner

Mike Toner

Principal

Mike graduated with a law degree from Canterbury University in 1979 and a few years later made the move north to Tauranga with a young family in tow. Mike has a lifelong passion for rugby, having played senior representative and club rugby for many years. When rugby injuries took the toll, he took up triathlons and long distance multisport events.

These days, he takes a gentler approach, spending his free time fishing, playing golf, travelling and with his three children and their families. He remains an avid rugby fan, albeit a spectator these days. Mike specialises in all aspects of general law. He particularly enjoys advising clients on property transactions (buying and selling of property, first home purchases, investment properties, the sale and purchase of business, small subdivision’s and cross-lease arrangements); relationship property matters, trust and estate work.

Emily Toner

Emily Toner

Solicitor/Partner

Emily, Mike’s daughter, joined the firm in 2016. Emily originally studied pharmacy and human nutrition at Otago University, and, after a number of years working as a pharmacist decided to make a career change to study law. After completing her law degree Emily spent two years working as a Judges’ Clerk at the Auckland High Court, and then worked in criminal law at Meredith Connell Crown Solicitors in Auckland.

Emily has since returned to Tauranga and is loving the relaxed, friendly environment at our firm and the close relationships that we have with our clients. Outside of work she loves the outdoors, travelling and spending time with her friends and family. Emily enjoys practising in a range of areas such as conveyancing, relationship property/family arrangements, trust and estate work.

Deb Boyd-Collins

Deb Boyd-Collins

Registered Legal Executive

Deb has been working with Mike since 2001 and is a registered legal executive. Over this time Deb has built up a very strong rapport with our clients. Deb specialises in conveyancing and takes responsibility for the majority of the conveyancing work within the office together with commercial transactions and estate planning.

Deb has two adult daughters and is “Mimi” to two grandchildren. After being very involved with the Tauranga Swimming Club for 10 years, Deb discovered the game of squash and has been playing passionately ever since. Deb loves the outdoors and can regularly be seen on the slopes of Mauao in the early hours of the morning, prior to work.
