Buying your first home is a big decision and can be a daunting and confusing process. This is completely understandable. It will probably be the biggest financial step you will ever make. For many, it may even be the first time you have needed to see a lawyer. We are passionate about making the process of purchasing your first home as easy as possible for you.
We will carefully guide you through the process step by step, whether that be in the initial stages of dealing with land agents and making an offer to purchase; or assisting you with the meeting of conditions once an agreement is signed. We will be with you every step of the way.
We also understand that as a first home buyer it will be important for you to keep your costs to a minimum. We don't charge on a strict time-attendance basis. And while our fee will reflect the amount of work involved, it will be at a reduced rate. We want you to feel comfortable asking for as much help as you need without worrying that every question you ask us will cost you money.
In the past we have offered a set-price 'first home buyers package'. We have however moved away from this approach, which gives us the flexibility to take each client's unique situation into account. If your transaction is very simple, we can keep the fee even lower, or if it is particulary complex and time consuming, again, we can take this into account.
We are happy to accept payment from you over time if paying us in one lump sum is going to be difficult.
We are also able to assist and advise you on ownership structure, relationship property or family sharing agreements, deeds of gift or acknowledgements of debt. These aspects of a purchase are becoming increasingly important in todays environment. We are frequently seeing parents gift or loan funds to their children to assist them with a first home purchase; or situations where one party contributes significantly more to a property purchase than the other. It is crucial to have the correct agreements in place if you wish to protect either the parents contribution and/or the additional contribution of one party.
